What To Expect From Android In 2016

2015 has no doubt set a bar for the amount of technological innovations that can occur in a year. Last year was incredibly busy with Smartphone giants releasing flagship devices and the boom of budget devices. That said, it also doesn’t hurt to wish for the stars so I will be listing all I expect from this wonderful year. If you do not agree with me or you wish to add your own expectations, the comment box is always welcome to you. Expectations of 2016

  • Android N

android n We don’t have all the details but we have a very accurate idea of what is coming to Android N: a split-screen UI. How do we know? That is because the Pixel C team said so in a Reddit AMA. Quoting the words of the Chrome and Android Director of User Experience Glen Murphy: “We’re working hard on a range of enhancements for Android in this form factor… there are many things, like multi-window, that we’ve been spending a lot of time on – hopefully we can share more about this soon.”His colleague, hardware director Andrew Bowers, added: “We’re working on lots of things right now for N that, of course, we wish we had, you know, yesterday. We will not spoil the surprise by giving out all the details we know about Android N yet. Keep in mind that Google is still searching for a name for it and you might actually be the person names it.

  • More Chinese OEMs

Chinese smartphone manufacturing companies have brought very stiff competition to heavy brand names like Samsung, LG, and even Apple and it seems that they are here to stay. Why? Because they offer more for less unlike the big players who charge exorbitantly and the consumers seem to love them for it. Some of these Chinese companies include Tecno, Xiaomi, Gionee, and OnePlus. In case you’re wondering why Chinese smartphones are so cheap, this article from AndroidPit should help.

  • Faster and Better Processors

processor 2016 If you are one of those people who think smartphone processors cannot get any better, 2016 will definitely prove you wrong. The two big processors of 2016 will be the Snapdragon 820 and the Exynos 8 and you should expect them to power only the best of the bests. It is expected that the powerful Snapdragon 820 will be powering the Samsung Galaxy S7, while the Snapdragon will appear in other powerful flagships. Early benchmarks suggest that the 820 will be a powerful performer and won’t suffer from the thermal throttling that plagued its predecessor, the 810.

  • A Dark Android Theme

android dark theme 2016 While a dark Android theme was scheduled for Android Marshmallow, it sadly didn’t make the cut. It’s only right that we assume it’ll be included in the next version of Android.

  • Laptops Running Android

android 2016 The Pixel C is the perfect example of things to expect. Android has often been labelled as a touch centric OS and that it isn’t suitable to run on laptops. The Google Pixel C proved everybody wrong. Given that Android already scales down to smartwatches and up to HDTVs, embracing laptops and hybrids seems like a sensible move. Let us keep our fingers crossed and hope we see more laptops running my favourite OS. What do you expect from Android in 2016? Feel free to let us know in the comments.
