Introducing LiFi Technology… a substitute for WiFi?

This is where we say that technology meets internet data speed, and the latest technology in the making is the LiFi technology that is said to offer internet data speed that is 100 times faster than your WiFi technology.

Here we are talking of whopping internet data transmission of 22GB per second download speed from the laboratory test conducted; and if you know what that means, it is an estimate of about 4 DVD HD movies downloads per second.

The LiFi wireless technology has been a laboratory test project for long now, not until recently when an Estonian based start-up Tech Company conducted a real test outside the laboratory.

LiFi technology is a wireless technology that allows for visible light transmission of internet data via flashing light at ultrahigh frequency.

Unlike your WiFi, which uses radio waves on smaller spectrum, LiFi technology as we have mentioned, uses visible light on broader spectrum, thus allowing for greater data transmission.

The test conducted shows that LiFi technology can also use the light bulb in your living room to transmit those ultrahigh frequencies internet data to your devices, thus making it appear rather more interesting.

However, the little drawback of this latest innovation is that since it is not easy for light to penetrate wall, the normal WiFi technology offers greater strength here, therefore, the LiFi technology might not offer total replacement for the WiFi and the best will be to have both technologies on ground without ditching the former completely.

Inside the LiFi technology drawback that we just mentioned comes in it added advantage of providing better network security than WiFi.

If the LiFi wireless technology finally comes on-board as mainstream wireless internet data provision, it will undoubtedly affect the way WiFi broadband businesses are being carried out but in a much positive note for all and sundry.
